114 An-Nas
This is a Makki Surah and draws its name from the mention of An- Naas, the Mankind, in the first verse. Together with Surah Al Falaq, it is known as Muadhdhitayn, the ones used to seek refuge, as the Prophet ﷺ often recited these two surahs during sickness and to protect from the evil eye.
Beginning with three attributes of Allaah (SWT), Lord of the men, Master of the men and the God of the men, believers are asked to seek refuge from the whispers of Satan. The evil that is warned against in this surah is one that arises internally, deviant thoughts resulting from the whispers of the devils that exist not just among the jinn, but also among men.
